Last week in Cansiglio (Italy) the national meeting of ProSilva Italia, in collaboration with the LIFE SPAN project, was held to discuss silvicultural interventions for the management of dendro-necromass and biodiversity in beech forests.
An opportunity for our team to present the activities carried out and the first results, discussing them with silviculture experts who arrived from all over Italy. After an initial moment inside, Friday was dedicated to a visit to the demonstration path and to the two martelloscopes.
Thanks to the software and tablets provided by EFI, the participants, divided into groups, were able to experience different management solutions inside the silvicultural "gyms” of the martelloscopes. The goal, in line with those of the project, was to bring together economic sustainability of interventions and biodiversity conservation. Thanks to the rapid data processing made possible by the software, the silvicultural choices were then discussed in plenary to identify pros and cons of each intervention, in full ProSilva style, an association that has always promoted confrontation as a tool for a greater understanding of the evolutionary dynamics of forest stands, toward a close to nature silviculture.
